Should Students Play Games (software) in school?

Yes, I do believe that students should play games in school. Playing games teaches students patience (waiting in line for your turn), how to focus (comprehending what is going on) and how to be competitive. Playing games in school is also used as a different style of teaching a subject. Of course we have text books but some students may need more than just sitting down reading books. You have to accommodate the different learning styles in while teaching. There are many educational games/software that students can utilize in their daily learning. I find that when children have competition they tend to want to do and learn more.Games can enhance a students motivation to learn. We need more computers in our schools to enhance the child's ability to want more, to compete more, to succeed and gain further knowledge.

  1. I agree! I've used different games in my classroom and they seem to have really helped with understanding. As long as the games are beneficial to the student in helping reinforce information or as a different teaching tactic I believe they are fine!

  2. Playing computer games can also reach the kinesthetic learner (using the mouse), the visual learner (watching the animation, and the visual learner ( with audio directions and sound effects.
